This is a commercial automobile insurance policy covering all the business vehicles for the desired coverages—liability and physical damage.
If you have a vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight of over 10,000 pounds, you are required by law to obtain a permit from the CHP (California Highway Patrol) and Department of Motor Vehicles to use the vehicle on the roads. The law specifies minimum limits of $750,000 CSL or more, depending on what you plan to haul. The insurer must make a filing with the Department of Motor Vehicles certifying that all of your vehicles are covered for the mandated limits or higher if you bought higher limits. Note the key word ALL vehicles. The insurer must also give the State 30 days warning before the policy can be cancelled.
Cargo insurance may be required by your permit or your contracts, or both. This is generally written as a separate policy. Tell us about what you are hauling and your trucks, and how far you are hauling it, and we can provide you with an indication of the cost of the needed cargo coverage.
